In a Pho restaurant in Nowhere, California, Bo has a meeting with the Universe in search for his lost best friend, Trixie. Spanning multiverses where nuns rob the Smithsonian, cowboys search for the American dream, two high schoolers obsess over Vanessa Hudgens’ cringe, and two friends record a Wingstop mukbang and discuss a future that will never happen. A play on memorial grief, friendship, and…YOUR F*CKING MOM! AYYYYY!!!

things that burn things
Written by rew ahreumbiDirected by Isabel PerryPlaywrights Horizons Theater School | Nov 2025
In this world of play, things are lives, and lives are things. Factories, bombing, and gunfire fill the air with so much smoke that there are no stars in the sky — not even the sun — so no one can tell if it’s day or night, dawn or dusk. At the center of the land stands a tall clock tower, said to control the world’s time, its hands now fixed at 13 o’clock, granting an extra hour of labor. Everyone’s an alien, just as one can easily make you a god.

Five would-be somebodies find themselves united in Hell, part of a trial run to solve Hell’s oncoming population problem. Faced with a poker match with the Devil’s right- turned dealer—the one and only Joan Crawford—these women must vie against each other for a spot in Heaven, all while contending sins, histories, sexual identity, and their own dispensability. Because winning is more than eternity—it is fame.

Pathos & logos
Written by Rachel LeighDirected by rew ahreumbiGoldberg Theater, NYU’s Broke People Play Festival | May 2023Costume and set design by Ahreumbi Rew
On the shore of some distant land, the lovers Pathos and Logos (Passion and Logic), once joined, have been torn apart and given physical form. While Logos, spends his days tinkering with a flawed machine that he believes to be the solution to restoring them to their original state, Pathos, dismayed by loneliness, tries desperately to build a life in the present instead of chasing after the past.

to be borned
Written by rew ahreumbiDirected by Omer Philosophthe clemente nyc, NYU’s Broke People Play Festival | Nov 2025recorded performance provided upon request.
The invented word "Borned" suggests that every being enters existence without consent, yet must spend a lifetime searching for purpose and belonging within it.The story ends as Willow's life fades, and Belize softly asks, "Ma? What is your name?" In a child's birth, a mother can never cease being a mother, just as a child can never stop being a child. A child rarely calls their mother by name, for that is who she is: mother, origin, god. The play lingers on this inevitability, exploring how it gives rise to a love that is at once sorrowful, reckless, unconventional, and unending. We, too, are all "borned." Thrust into a world without our choosing, bound to love, to lose, and to long for understanding before the night takes us as well.

A question for all of us:
where do we call home?
Is it stationary? Roaming? A place? A person? Permanent or temporary?
How do we hold on to it?
